What is Great Run Local?


Great Run Local is a network of free, weekly, friendly running events organised by fantastic volunteers that can take place on any day and time of the week. Great Run Local runs are 2km and 5km in distance, to encourage participation, ideal for beginner runners and families as well as regular runners.

All Great Run Local events provide a social start and finish area for participants to meet new people, interact with other runners, share their stories and offer encouragement to each other. The weekly runs provide participants with the opportunity to attend frequently and maintain the fitness benefits associated with running regularly.

2k and 5k timed distances make Great Run Local perfect for runners of all abilities, including families, new starters and regular runners.

All Great Run Local events are supported by an amazing team of hundreds of trained volunteers, including fantastic Event Coordinators and trained First Aiders.

Great Run Local events are held nationwide – with thousands of runners taking part and joining the fantastic and welcoming Great Run Local community.

How it all works

Great Run Local use some really cool award winning technology to time your run. All runners register for their unique Great Run Local timing chip. Then all you need to do is turn up and our fantastic volunteers will help you with the rest. Once you have completed your run you will receive your finish time by text message and have your result displayed on your own profile page.

Great Run Local is not everywhere but is growing year by year. Great Run Local currently has events in Glasgow, North East England, North West England, Birmingham, Suffolk, London, and along the South Coast.
