For this particular hike I recommend using a quality hiking shoe due to the nature of the terrain. I used the Keen Ridge Flex Waterproof Walking Boots – and I found them very supportive and grippy in the wet conditions; they provide outstanding protection from the rough of the trails to the harshness of the elements.
During the hike I also used some Sealskinz products including socks, gloves and beanie hat which complimented the hiking boots greatly and made me feel I was readily equipped to go hiking. Definitely some of the best quality hiking products I’ve come across and highly recommend you check them out!
Having taken the Keen Ridge Flex out on several routes now, I’ve had the opportunity to put them to the test. The things that have impressed me so far are the Bellows Flex strip, this gives the foot noticeably greater movement than standard hiking boots, allowing for ease of movement over uneven and rocky terrain.
Don’t forget to take accessories on your hike, as the weather can change quickly. The Sealskinz hat is very cosy and keeps head and ears warm, resisting the winds by remaining firmly in place. The gloves also do an excellent job of keeping my hands warm and dry.

I walked this route in my new Keen Ridge Flex waterproof boots which I found really supportive around the ankle, essential for stability on the uneven moorland terrain. They also had enough space in the toe box to wear my thick walking socks underneath.
These shoes gripped the wet slabs and rock really well and kept my feet dry throughout the day.
