Explaining GORE-TEX Invisible Fit Footwear Technology
Written By: SportsShoes
We take a closer look at GORE-TEX Invisible Fit, explaining how it works and the benefits of this unique footwear technology.
WHAT IS IT?
Whether you’re a casual city jogger, training for a marathon, or just love wearing athletic footwear around town, don’t let wet weather slow you down. GORE-TEX Invisible Fit footwear offers the fit, feel, and style you love, together with the GORE-TEX 'Guaranteed to keep you Dry' promise — especially for shoes with knitted uppers.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- TRUE FIT
The unique, flexible construction reduces weight and creates fewer pressure points. It provides an extremely comfortable fit and feel, so you can keep going and going.
- VERY BREATHABLE
Moisture vapour from sweat can escape easily, so you stay comfortable - even when you're going hard.
- DURABLE & WATERPROOF
Reliable waterproof protection means your feet stay dry - from summer showers to icy winter puddles. Perfect for short jogs or long-distance races.
- FAST DRYING
Proven faster drying time means you’re ready to go again quicker, and your footwear stays fresher for longer.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- INVISIBLE COMFORT AND SUPPORT
This waterproof, windproof, and very breathable membrane is invisibly integrated into a wide-range of athletic shoes. Bonded directly into the shoe, the lightweight construction is designed to be invisible. You get all the benefits you expect from a GORE-TEX product technology, in exactly the style of shoe you want.
- LESS PRESSURE, MORE FREEDOM
The lighter construction reduces the weight of the GORE-TEX material by 18% (compared to GORE-TEX bootie construction), and eliminates wrinkles, folds, and stitching abrasion. The Invisible Fit technology also allows for comfortable tongue construction and a wider toe box. All of that means fewer pressure points on your feet, less irritation, and more support when you’re pushing yourself to keep going
We asked a selection of female trail runners to test the new Nike React Pegasus 4 Trail Running Shoes GTX (pictured below), to see what they think about GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology.

"A fab weekend trying out the Nike React Pegasus Trail 4 GTX shoes around some soggy Snowdonia trails. The Invisible Fit membrane is super comfy and breathable, whilst the ankle gait to keep the puddles from spilling in. Finishing a day on the trails, in October, with completely dry feet is a huge win for me." - Hannah Cawthra
"So, I’ve had the new Nike Pegasus 4 GORE-TEX Trail shoes for a week now and I’ve already ran 56km in them and climbed 2080m of elevation. From muddy 5ks with Pabs in the rain to a 26km coastal run with friends, and a 20k trail race thrown in there too. What I love about them is that they give me the confidence to run down steep uneven terrain and through puddles and mud, all things I’d usually avoid or slow down for." - Kate Battersby
"I loved testing out the new GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane. The Nike Pegasus 4 Trail GTX are light, comfy and breathable … perfect for the unpredictable British weather." - Sarina Pietrosanti

"Finally, a trail shoe that really stands out from the crowd!
So fresh, so bouncy, so light. Yet waterproof, breathable and with a nice sticky grip so you can really make the most of those wet ‘n wild winter trail runs. No need to jump over those puddles anymore thanks to GORE-TEX technology." - Sophie Horrocks
"No soggy feet for me this winter!
The new Nike Pegasus 4 GORE-TEX Trail shoes felt super comfy and light, fresh from the box. It was fun to test the waterproof outer and integrated tread on the slippery trails after last week's storm. No bum slides and my feet kept cosy and dry." - Antonia Fan
