REVIEW: Scarpa Golden Gate Kima RT Trail Running Shoes
Written By: SportsShoes
The SCARPA GOLDEN GATE KIMA RT is a technical trail running shoe designed to reduce fatigue. The carbon plate enclosed in new-generation foam heightens the elastic response of the arch of the foot, reducing the physical effort of running without compromising precision on uneven terrain.
Accurate and supportive, the GOLDEN GATE KIMA RT is designed and tested for maximum performance on the most technical trails, but also performs well on less demanding unpaved tracks.

Scarpa have been working their magic again.
Their latest trail running offering; the Golden Gate Kima RT is a technical trail running shoe with fancy carbon plate technology designed to turn you into a mountain goat!
I'm quite excited by these shoes, I've been on a few test runs in the Brecon Beacons and here is my review so far.
Let's start with the looks. Simply put, they are drop dead gorgeous - another good-looking shoe from Scarpa!
The fit; The Sock-Fit LW internal construction system avoids compression points by wrapping around the foot. There is also an Exo internal cage in micro suede to ensure greater lateral stability.
These shoes fit my narrow feet comfortably, but they are also suitable for a wider foot. There is more room in the toe-box compared to other Scarpa shoes like the Spin Infinity, which isn’t a problem for myself. They provide a comfy fit with plenty of space for my toes so they don’t get crushed when running downhill.
The grip; The Golden Gate Kima RT has the best grip of any Scarpa model to date. Featuring Scarpa’s own Presa outsole, the outsole has bigger lugs and is more aggressive compared to the Scarpa Ribelle Run, a big improvement, I love it. The grip can confidently handle steep, muddy, rocky and grassy hills easily.
Featuring ACTIVE FOAM in the midsole, this model combines 4 important characteristics all the runners want in a shoe: cushioning, rebound, long-lasting and lightweight. It also has fancy carbon plate technology designed to reduce fatigue. Now I don’t know too much about carbon plates but they sound good and they do feel great when running across all kinds of off-road terrain. The ride is awesome - it feels very firm and supportive of the foot, with lots of protection when running over sharp rocks.
The Golden Gate Kima RT is my trail racing shoe of choice for 2022.
